			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It can be said that you can run Linux on an ancient <a title="intel 386 docs" href="http://www.x86.org/intel.doc/386manuals.htm">Intel 386 computer</a> .&nbsp; However it gets tricky and time consuming for beginenrs as you will have to run ALL your programs and <a title="Linux commands command prompt" href="http://www.reallylinux.com/docs/basic.shtml">commands from the command prompt.</a> However to make your life much easier in the world of learning Linux its easier to use a Windows type What You See is What You Get (WISIWIG)&nbsp; graphical interface.&nbsp; This can be done with even a 486 computer.&nbsp; However in today&#8217;s world computer upgrades being what they are even what is now considered a &#8220;throw away&#8221; computer &#8211; be it a simple Pentium computer , a Pentium 2 or 3 or even now a early Pentium 4&nbsp; computer will make your life and learning easier.&nbsp; Either a true Intel Pentium or an Amd setup will do.
</p>
<p>However it can be said that all things being equal a true Intel Pentium computer may offer less variations and is preferred as the basic computer for a Linux setup especially in the hands of a beginner or beginner Linux novice.
